Article Processing Charge (APC)

An article processing charge (APC) is a fee charged to an author by a journal publisher to make the version of record of an article open access via the journal website. Not all Open Access journals charge APCs.  A minority of DOAJ-indexed Open Access journals exert these charges. The Budapest Open Access Initiative 20th Anniversary Recommendations urge funders, institutions and authors: 'Move away from article processing charges (APCs)'.
